Doris Eleanor Scaggs Profile Photo

Doris Eleanor (Ervin) Scaggs, born September 15, 1932, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 26, 2023 at 91 years old. It is impossible to sum up Mom’s life in just a few words, but I can say that she was hardworking, loving, and giving; the best mother to all of her seven children. Mom shared her love for God with all who knew her. She was a shining light in her community, including the last few months of her life at Portsmouth Health and Rehab, where she was loved by all! Her smile was contagious! In her most recent years, she was a member of Cedar Street Church in New Boston, OH. She was a loving and devoted wife to Dad, Leonard Scaggs. They were married on November 11, 1950, and celebrated 66 years together before Dad’s passing in August of 2017.

Surviving are all seven children: Leonard Randall (Gloria) Scaggs, Penny Sue (Ronald) Henthorn, Daniel Lee (Mary) Scaggs, Cynthia Lou (Carl) Ervin, Guy Ervin (Laura) Scaggs, Rebecca Ruth (Keith) Johns, and Angela Kay (Steve) Harris. Also surviving are twenty-five grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. Mom has six surviving siblings: Donna Faye Sammons, Linda Kay (Jerry) Wadkins, Joyce Ann (Doug) Stamper, Ada Ruth (Jerry) Kotlarczyk, Evelyn Jane(Mike) Craft, and Orie Seldon (Sherry) Ervin, and two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Ervin and Fern Ervin.

Preceding Mom in death are her parents, Guy Curtis and Vurla Mae (Smith) Ervin; husband, Leonard Scaggs; granddaughter, Brandy Morgan Bowe; brothers, Harold Wayne Ervin and Guy Clifton Ervin.
