Donald R. Holland

Donald R. Holland, 72, of Minford died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center in Huntington, W.VA. He was born April 7, 1939, in New Boston, a son of the late Raymond Holland and Ruth Wiley Purtee and step-father Dallas Purtee, Sr. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force in Greece, was an Auto Body Repairman, and a former race car driver at the Southern Ohio Raceway. He was a member of the Minford Nazarene Church. Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Johnson Holland, whom he married July 29, 1960 in West Portsmouth; a son, James (Brenda) Holland of Plant City, Fl; two brothers, Phillip (Linda) Purtee and Dallas (Teressa) Purtee all of Franklin Furnace; three sisters, June (Jim) Purtee Darby of Charleston, SC, Opal (Jerry) Purtee Mustain of Stout, Vanessa (Brad) Purtee Souders of Clarktown; and a grandson, Kevin Holland of Indianapolis, IN. Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Minford Nazarene Church with Pastor Mark Bales and Pastor Don Mersiel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with graveside military honors by James Irwin Post 622, and Wm. A.Baker Post 363, American Legion. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 at D.W.
