Delores P. Schuler

Delores (Dee) Schuler, 90, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

Delores was born in New Boston, Ohio, on May 9, 1930, to Elza and Marylin Wolfe who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her husband Edward F. Schuler, sisters Evelyn Wolfe, Betty McMeans, Doris Weekly, and Edna Stepp, and brothers Ralph Wolfe and Carl Wolfe.

She is survived by three daughters, Marylin Ottney of New Boston, Deborah (Michael) Knauff of Portsmouth, and Lisa (Russell) Hicks of Portsmouth; nine grandchildren, Mike (Elizabeth) Ottney, Laura (Mark) Payton, Valerie Truitt, Ryan (Katie) Ottney, Jeff (Stacy) Horner, Chris (Amanda) Ottney, Nikki (Doug) Bays, Josh (Samantha) Hoskins, and Erica Hoskins; 25 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Known affectionately as “The Great One” by her many great and great-great-grandchildren, Delores worked at Fashion Bug, in New Boston, for 26 years and she was a member of Ohio Avenue Christian Church in New Boston. She enjoyed her rose garden, reading the Portsmouth Daily Times, beach vacations, and spending time with her family and beloved pets Maggie, Sissy, and Violet.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the caring staff of SOMC Hospice and Hospice In-Home Caregivers Susan and Chelsea.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME, in New Boston, with Jeff Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park, in Wheelersburg. Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
