David T. Hamilton

Age 92 of New Boston, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth He was born January 8, 1924 in Fullerton, KY to the late David and Adie (Bush) Hamilton He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked professionally at the Empire Detroit Steel Mill A lifelong resident of the Portsmouth area, David was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, and the James Dickey Post #23, American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing, and loved to fish.

He is survived by his daughter, Betty Jo Allison of West Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Tammy, Melinda, Francie, Keri, and Charlie; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren He was also preceded in death by his wife in 1993, Marjorie L. (McClurg) Hamilton; one son, Dean Hamilton; three brothers, Russell,  Alton “Al”, Clifford and Randy Hamilton; three sisters,  Lorene Poole, Gertrude Crabtree, Opal Fraley.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday November 12, 2016 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park with Military Graveside Honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
