Darlene Hunter

M. Darlene Hunter, 74, of Grove City, Ohio, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 8, 1939, at home in Rosemount, Scioto County, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Earl and Mary Miller Hunter. Surviving are her brother, David Hunter and wife Adelaide, a nephew David Hunter II, and nieces Jatrice (Randy) Castle, Cynthia Hunter and Rhonda Hunter, all of Rosemount, great-nephews Matthew Skiver, Andrew Castle and Daniel Castle, great-niece Mackenzie Penn, all of Rosemount and great-niece Elizabeth Skiver and great-great-nephew Preston Watkins of Grove City. Darlene was a graduate of Clay High School, Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University. She was an English teacher at Clay High School and Portsmouth West High School before moving to the Columbus, Ohio area. After receiving her Master's Degree in Library Science from Case Western Reserve, she was a librarian at Walnut Ridge High School in Columbus and Grove City High School from where she retired in 1992. Darlene was a member of the United Methodist Church, held various offices in the State of Ohio Library Association and served as Vice President of The National Herbal Society. After retirement she was a volunteer worker at libraries in the Columbus area and she spent a summer teaching library science in the country of South Africa. She loved to travel, and throughout her life visited numerous countries worldwide. Her pets were an important part of her life. Memorial services will be held at the Riverview Wesleyan Church on July 20 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Adam Satterfield. Internment will be at the Orm Cemetery in Rosemount.
