Claude Joe Jarvis, Jr

Claude Joe Jarvis, Jr., 65, of Portsmouth passed away Thursday January 26, 2023 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born July 30, 1957 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Claude and Edith (Mangus) Jarvis. He served in the U.S. Marines, enjoyed playing on the computer, watching westerns on TV, especially Bonanza. Claude is survived by his wife, Sandra (Wright) Jarvis; two sons, Jay Jarvis and Timmy Royster both of Portsmouth; four daughters, Missi Jarvis-Jenkins and husband Jim of Wheelersburg, Robin Jarvis of Portsmouth, Brandi Mosley of Chillicothe, Laura Lennex and husband Josh of Sciotoville; six sisters, Geraldine Sears of Paintsville, KY, Patty Hilderbrand of Portsmouth, Rosie Cooper and Betty Riley both of Wheelersburg, Ruth Plank of Morehead, KY and Donna Wilburn of Ashland, KY; a brother, Rob Jarvis of Dayton, 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and others who called him Dad and Papaw. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Royster in 2016, sisters, Joyce Garrett and Linda Jarvis; brothers, Mondle Riley, Clifford Riley and stepfather Jim Thomas. Funeral services will be 7 PM Sunday January 29, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Darryl Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the funeral home.
