Christopher Evans

Age 53 of Lucasville, formerly of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at SOMC Hospice after his brief battle with cancer. He was born on May 29, 1962 in Portsmouth to the late Nigel Elaine First-Evans and was the grandson of the late Mickey Mirandi Noel. Chris was the store manager at the Fastop Market (Blue Store) in Portsmouth for over 23 years where he was loved by his customers and co-workers.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kristy (Holbrook) Evans who he married on April 22, 1994 in New Boston; two brothers, Mike Evans (Ginny) of West Union, Danny Evans (Diane) of Portsmouth; one sister, Bev Travis (James) of New Boston; one half-brother, Herbie Evans; two half-sisters, Clydetta Evans Miller and Angie Evans Brown of Rarden; his father and mother-in-law, Roger and Jeanne Holbrook of New Boston; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Bender (Chris) of New Boston, Kimberly Lawless (Danny) of Lucasville, Gina McGuire (Jody) of Portsmouth; brother-in-law and best friend, Roger Holbrook II (Lisa) of Lucasville; and his four-legged best buddy, Gunner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who he adored as they did him and special friend, Donna Jo Glenn of Portsmouth who treated him like a son.

Chris was a kind and caring man who had a sense of humor like no other and will be greatly missed by many.

The family would like to thank SOMC Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and wonderful care during such a difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at D.W. Swick-Nelson Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastors Josh Holbrook and Brian Holbrook officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Friday from 11 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris’s name to SOMC Hospice. D.W.
