Age 64 of Franklin Furnace, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth He was born December 22, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio to Charles and Clara (Ward) Messer A 1972 graduate of Minford High School and VoTech, Charles worked for 29 years as an operator for the New Boston Coke Plant and then 5 years in the Boilermakers Union He raced motorcycles and go-carts as a young man, enjoyed playing the guitar, and was a pilot. Charles loved music, painting, and NASCAR He attended Plymouth Heights Nazarene Church.
Charles is survived by his wife, Cindy (Burns) Messer; son, Chad Messer of Portsmouth; daughter, Amanda Blevins Messer of Wheelersburg; one grandchild, Allison Blevins In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Messer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Andy Ramey officiating Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday Online condolences may be shared at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
