Charles Eugene Dunn, 88, of Wheelersburg passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth.  Charles was born on August 23, 1935 to the late Floyd and Ethel (Whetstone) Dunn in New Boston.  Charles retired after over 40 years of service at Empire Detroit Steel and after retirement took a job with the EPA in the plant.  He was a hard worker and was a handyman for many.  He loved watching westerns on television like "Gunsmoke".  When he wasn't working he loved spending time with his family which he dearly loved.  Charles was a member of the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union.

Charles is survived by his wife, Gwen Dunn; a son, Keith Dunn of Wheelersburg; three daughters, Karen Smith and husband Scott of Portsmouth, Kimberly Horsley and husband Russell of New Boston, Kathy Wolfe and husband Jack of New Boston; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Dunn of Galion; fourteen grandchildren, Kenny Dunn II, Chris Dunn, Jason Wolfe, Chad Wolfe, Chris Wolfe, James Stapleton, Josh Stapleton, Kayla Stapleton, Keith Dunn Jr., Justin Dunn, Ryan Lansing, Tyler Horsley, Courtney Horsley, and Brett Horsley; thirty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dunn; a brother, Edward Floyd Dunn; a sister Judy Kay Dunn; and a grandchild, Gwendolyn Kay Horsley.

Funeral services will be 12:00 (Noon) Monday July 15, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Brad Angus officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wellston.  The family will receive friends on Sunday July 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
