Carole Jane Rider

Carole Jane (Poole) Rider, 83, of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was born on December 31, 1937. She was a 1955 graduate of Portsmouth High School and worked at Construction Inspection Company.  She was a member of Saint Monica Catholic Church.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved the farm and especially the calves and newborn lambs.  She raised labs and we loved being the recipients of those pups.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Leroy and Ethel Pauline, husband, Dennis Rider on May 5, 2010 and her brother, Edward Poole and sister-in-law Marilyn Poole, special favorites to our family. Jane is survived by her five children, Polly (Brian) Hawk, Eric Harris, Carole (Tony) Consiglio, Steve (Brenda) Harris, and Ben (Terah) Harris, 11 grandchildren - Danielle, Kristin, Jason, Jeremy, Breslyn, Ryan, Casey, Zachary, Courtney, Matthew, Mason and 12 great grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her three sisters, Judy Blair, Bonnie (Lou) Ivanovich, and Teresa and (Jeff) Lehman all of Cincinnati, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday January 8 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg.  Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Earle and Jean Bruce Alzheimer’s Research
