Age 58 of New Boston, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at SOMC in Portsmouth She was born in Portsmouth on May 2, 1959 to Clyde and Mary (Patrick) Parlin A 1977 graduate of Glenwood High School, she went on to attend Shawnee State University in Portsmouth Brenda had worked for Palmetto Group Health Insurance as well as 15 years for Hickie’s Restaurant She was currently working as a bartender for the Eagles Club In her spare time, she enjoyed musicals, listening to music, and was an avid Cavaliers fan She counted herself as a member of the “Sister Friends,” a special group of friends from the Glenwood High School class of 1977.
Brenda is survived by her son, Tyler Messer of Hurricane, WV; nephew, Eric Parlin of Conyers, GA; two great-nephews, Alex and Justin Parlin of Conyers, GA; one great-niece, Pamela Parlin of Portsmouth In addition to her parents Clyde and Mary, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry, Patrick, and Stan Parlin; one sister in infancy, Kimberly Parlin.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating Friends may call one hour before the service Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
