Bonnie H Jenkins

Bonnie Jenkins, 94, of New Boston, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Heartland of Portsmouth. She was born January 13, 1915, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Charles Stevens and Margaret Chaney Stevens. She was a retired school teacher having taught at Irvine, Kentucky, Wheelersburg and New Boston for 15 years. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a past member of Scioto County Retired Teachers Association and the Shawnee Golden Bears. Bonnie was married February 9, 1939, to Joe D. Jenkins, who preceded her in death August 22, 2004. Bonnie is survived by 3 sons, Steve Jenkins and his wife Sharon, of New Boston; Dick Jenkins and his wife Faye, of New Boston; Bill Jenkins and his wife Peggy, of Adairville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Scott and Missy Jenkins, of Wheelersburg; Michelle and J.R. Russell, of West Portsmouth; Kristi Jenkins, of Somerset, Kentucky; Kelli and Chris DeSimone, of Lexington, Kentucky; Joseph Jenkins, of Adairville, Kentucky; P.J.and Tara Jenkins, of Russellville, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Matt Jenkins, Kelsey Jenkins, Jordan Jenkins, Caitlin Russell; and three sisters, Loraine Crowe, of Newark, Ohio; Helen Witt, of Irvine, Kentucky, and Margaret Embry, of Caneyville, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Stevens, and two infant siblings, Robert and Elizabeth Stevens. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 PM and Wednesday from 1-2 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
