Bernice A. Peirce

Bernice Adalene (Grandma Bernie) Dotson Peirce, 87, a loving mother, grandmother and a devout Christian went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday June 10, 2021. She was born September 2, 1933 in New Boston, a daughter of the late Edward and Mella Blanton Dotson. Bernice was a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, former clerk, cashier and telephone operator.
Bernice is survived by three daughters, Karla Coleman (Steve Staker) of Portsmouth, Linda Timberlake Swords (Danny) of New Boston and Rebecca Howe (Jerry) of Portsmouth; a son, Barry Peirce (Laura) of Dublin; a sister, Kay Voglesong of McDermott; four grandchildren, Corey Coleman, Justin Bratchett, Marcella (Dennis) Byrne and Jesse Bratchett (Kevin); seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Carter, Hudson, Jackson, Jacob, Talan and Aiden; a special sister/cousin Janice Dotson and a special friend, Ruth Barth.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Rase; a brother, Bob Dotson, infant brother Richard; a stepfather, Ollie Stone; and a son-in-law Steve Coleman.
A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 PM Tuesday June 15, 2021 with funeral services to follow at 1PM at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Greg Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
