Bernice Myers Clausing
Bernice Myers Clausing, 79, of Portsmouth, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Born November 3, 1929, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ulysses Grant Myers and Emma Frances Sizemore Myers. Her husband, Floyd Clausing, whom she married on May 3, 1947 in Greenup, Ky, preceded her in death on August 28, 1992. An infant sister also preceded her in death.
Bernice was a retired Manager from Dolly Madison Cake, Inc. having served for more than twenty years. She also was an employee of Doerr & Associates for many years. She was a faithful member of the First Apostolic Church in Rosemount, did volunteer work for the hospital, assisted in Ladies Ministries in her local church and was a faithful soldier of the cross. Surviving are sons, Martin Brian (Alice Diana) Clausing of Dayton, Ohio; Timothy Michael (Edie) Clausing, of Richmond, Virginia; Kevin Dale (Dana) Clausing, of Portsmouth; one daughter, Diane (Mike) Neal, of Portsmouth. Eight grandchildren; Matthew Michael Neal, Jonathan Wayne (Denise) Neal, Rachel Elizabeth (Dustin) Woodrum, Kristin Nichole Clausing, T.J. Clausing, Derek Allen Clausing, Stephen Tyler Clausing, and Christina Marie Clausing. Six great-grandchildren, Alexander Matthew and Hannah Marie Neal; Kayla, Seth and Jordon Neal; and Westin Michael Woodrum. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 18, 2008 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Rev. Don Hammond and Pastor Tony Knittel officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday 10:00 to 11:00 AM at D.W. Swick in New Boston. Online condolences may be sent to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
