Age 89 of Stout passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Heartland of Portsmouth He was born in New Boston on January 25, 1928, to Harold and Lola (Daulton) Elrod Bernard worked for more than 20 years for Borden Dairy as a milkman and then for many years for the Shawnee State Park as the Building Maintenance Foreman He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, building not only furniture, but barns and houses as well Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Bryant) Elrod; daughter, Catherine Liddle of West Portsmouth; son, Tim Elrod of Stout; one daughter-in-law, Janice Elrod of Stout; brothers, Kenneth “Kenny” (Alice) Elrod of Cygnet, Paul Elrod of New Boston; sisters, Juanita Sluder of Minford, Nancy Smith of Rising Sun; five grandchildren, Dewran (Amanda) Liddle, Michael (Michelle) Liddle, Shawnda (Matthew) Steinke, Jonathan Elrod, Barrett Elrod; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Bradley, and Riley Liddle, Miles and Oliver Steinke In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven D. Elrod; brothers, Carlos and Arthur Elrod.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Jim McCullough officiating Interment will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott Friends may call Wednesday from 6 – 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Thursday Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
