Benjamin Franklin Conkel, 38, of New Boston passed away unexpectedly, after a two day debilitating headache Monday, September 5, 2022 at his home. He was born on February 9, 1984 in Portsmouth to Patty (Conkel) Childers and Benjamin Wright.
Ben is survived by his sons and daughter, whom he loved dearly. Also, his mother Patty, his little brother John (Nicole) Conkel of Vevay, Indiana, his big sister, Jody (D.J.) Johnson of South Carolina, several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle, and beloved best friend, Dannette Parker (and family).
“Bub” loved his whole family, unconditionally He loved and walked with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus. He enjoyed reading and learning new things, with special interest in Biblical matters and the Universe. He was an avid, and extremely talented basketball player his entire life…and was on the court playing just days ago. Ben is loved by many. His laughter and heart will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Condolences and donations can be sent to the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston. All donations will be contributed to a memorial fund that is being established in his honor. The fund will be used to offset expenses for underprivileged boys to play the sport he loved so much, basketball.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at First Christian Holiness Church in New Boston with Pastor Lorenzo Bentley officiating. Interment will follow at Oswego Cemetery on Tick Ridge in Otway. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
