Age 73 of New Boston, passed away on March 20, 2017 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth He was born in Portsmouth on March 19, 1944 to Norman and Helen (Smedley) Taylor Tony was a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party and spent 41 years working for Scioto County Community Action where he was the Director of Scioto County Head Start for more than two decades.

Tony was an active volunteer in the New Boston community, serving on the school board for over 20 years and as a youth basketball, T-ball, and soccer coach He was also the Scoutmaster for New Boston Boy Scout Troop 9 and one of the founding members of the New Boston Beautification Committee He volunteered much of his time at Camp Oyo Boy Scout Camp where he was a lifetime member of the Staff and Alumni Association He attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, watching the Reds, and his dog, Zoey More than anything, he love to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Taylor of New Boston; son, Matthew (Danielle) Taylor and children, Emily, Molly, and Abby Taylor and Davis and Carter Mitchell, all of West Portsmouth, and son, Ryan (Erin) Taylor and their children, Cameron and Brennan Taylor, all of Patterson, NY; brother, Pat Taylor of NC; sister, Mimi Vita of Portsmouth; and a very special sister-in-law, Brenda Wujek of New Boston In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Joe, and Bob Taylor, and sisters, Normali Crosby and Catherine Ann Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Gary Heimbach officiating Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and one hour before the service Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com
