Alice Elaine Burchett

Alice Elaine (Skaggs) Burchett, 77, of Minford passed away at her home on Sunday, July 21, 2024.  She was born January 1, 1947 to the late Ellis Skaggs and Janet (Tingler) Nance in Portsmouth.  Alice loved to crochet, she was also an excellent cook and loved baking.  Aside from taking care of her home she was a huge sports fan.  She loved watching Nascar, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds.  She was a loving grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 49 years.

Alice is survived by her husband, Walter Burchett Sr.; her mother, Janet Nance of Rosemount; two sons, Walter Lee Burchett Jr of Minford and Matthew Lewis (Lori) of Fayetteville, NC; three sisters, Karen Hayes of McArthur, Tamara Reener of McArthur and Janet Twinam of Sciotoville; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.  In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Burchett; two brothers, Danny Skaggs and Russ Skaggs; and a great-granddaughter Octavia Taylor-Moore. The family would like to express their gratitude towards SOMC Cancer Center, SOMC Hopsice, and Rosemount Pavilion, and the following care personnel:  Leslie and Robin.  Thank you for your care.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Gary Doddridge officiating.  Interment will follow at White Cemetery in Minford.  Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Friday.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
